Last Day of May
Well, its the last day of may and I am still learning Svelte and Typescript and building functions. This whole site has been built in May (since May 9th in fact) and even in the last 48 hours I have moved the visual styles to be based on TailwindCSS and DaisyUI.
A few things I have learnt in the last month,
- TypeScript is as good as most languages. I have only done small quantities of JavaScript, but I have to say that I like TypeScript much better than I recall liking JavaScript. It might be because of the volume of Python I am doing lately.
- Browser niceness and consistency is much better than it was 20 years ago. I remember spending most of my time getting simple formatting or functions working across the browsers and by the time something simple was working all of my energy was sapped.
- Railway.com is great. I did not look far and wide when I made my choice for Railway.com but I am now a paying customer.
- Redis is simple & great. An awesome combo.
- Large Language Models are very good at pumping out this stuff and finding issues in structure. I have been using Claude for a lot of my learning here and its much quicker than bouncing around Google search looking for examples.
- This tool chain is just a productivity machine. I am used to waiting for app servers to boot and having relatively slow cycles in my iterations. I am not used to this at all for web development and I really like it.
Lets see where I can get in the the next month of spare time.
I have a few idea's in mind from here still and I hope everyone has a great June!
